Our Faculty

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Alex Soulliere is an American dancer, choreographer and masterclass teacher currently based between the United Kingdom and the United States. He is a former dancer with the London based, Rambert Dance Company and received his formal training from the Juilliard School in New York City. Soulliere is currently working alongside his partner, Jonathan Wade, using his vast experience of dance to give dancers new tools to help develop their physicality and enrich their artistry. Their classes focus on using momentum to get in and out of the floor, as well as the use of initiation points to facilitate the flow of movement. As an international masterclass teacher, Soulliere has taught and assisted classes across the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, Australia, India and the United States. He has served on faculty at Rambert’s Intensive and their virtual platform, Rambert Home Studio, as well as led auditions in London and Paris for the company. As a choreographer, he has presented several works at The Juilliard School, at Rambert’s choreographic platform “The Loom”, and at many studios across the United States. In the future, he is looking forward to teaching, creating and mentoring at Eisenhower Dance Detroit’s “NewDANCEfest” in July of 2025.

In his early years, Soulliere trained as a gymnast, eventually transitioning into dance at the age of thirteen. His training began at Spotlight Dance Works and later continued at The Juilliard School, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes. During this time, he became a member of The Juilliard GLUCK Fellowship, where he helped curate, choreograph and perform at hospitals and schools across New York City. During his time at school, he worked with Ground Works Dance Theatre as a guest artist for their 2015 summer season, and later performed at Le Festival des Arts de Saint- Sauveur for choreographer Ethan Colangelo. Upon graduation, Soulliere completed a residency with Winter Guests’ choreographer Alan Lucien Øyen at The BANFF Center for the Arts and Creativity, and later performed a run of shows for Jasmine Ellis in Munich, Germany. In 2018, Soulliere moved to London to join the Rambert Dance Company, under the direction of Benoit Swan Pouffer. For six years he worked with Rambert as a dancer, and later as a Rehearsal Assistant during the company’s work with choreographer Jill Johnson in 2024. Throughout his professional career, he has performed works by Crystal Pite, Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal, William Forsythe, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Hofesh Shechter, Imre and Marne van Opstal, Wim Vandekeybus, Jo Strømgren, Alonzo King, Aszure Barton, Richard Alston, Merce Cunningham, Jerome Robbins, Wayne McGregor and Alexandra Damiani to name a few. Alongside his contemporary career, Soulliere was a National Winner with New York City Dance Alliance, has performed at The Fred and Adel Astaire Awards, The BBC Olympic Homecoming Event with Laura Mvula, the closing ceremonies for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, at Vogue World with FKA Twigs, and with Rambert at the 2024 BAFTA’s. He can been seen in The Avalanches’s music video “We Will Always Love You” and a 2024 “World AIDS Day” campaign for MAC Cosmetics UK. He also appeared in the August 2023 issue of Vogue Magazine alongside Naomi Campbell. All of these experiences have helped shape Soulliere into the artist he is today. He is celebrated for his dynamic ability, consistency, and the broadness of his versatility.
